I Believe

My name is Vince Fowler. I am a Business Coach, living in Calgary, Alberta. I am one of five Business Coaches in a staff of ten at the firm, Business Edge Coaching.

My “coaching” journey began with the military many years ago. I had joined the infantry, a member of the PPCLI (Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry) and soon after achieved my boyhood dream of being a paratroop in the Canadian Airborne Regiment – including operation experience in Somalia, Africa.

Following the military in 2007, I went into Business to Business sales – selling everything from photocopiers, law enforcement equipment and mascots. In 2008, I was introduced to a Canadian based Direct Sales business and built a successful organization with the guidance and mentorship of some very good friends.

Parallel to all of that… I’ve been playing and coaching rugby for the better part of 20 years – from high school to representing Calgary in the Rugby Canada Super League. I’ve won championships as a player as well as a coach – in both youth and adult athletics.

Okay… so… what?

I became a Business Coach because I believe that people buy a business for a reason, for a purpose… to achieve some sort of greater outcome. It might be as simple as being your own boss, controlling your own destiny… or maybe it’s to leave a legacy, franchise, or create enough wealth that you have choices – choices to do what ever it is you want to do.

I don’t believe people start a business to work 60-80 hours a week, week after week, month after month, year after year…

I don’t believe people start a business to work hours upon hours… and then not see their family, their children, their friends…

I don’t believe people start a business only to see that very business run their lives. After years of working their business, they realize the business does’t work – they do. In other words, with out them, their business wouldn’t work at all.

I believe a business should work without the owner… and why not. It’s more than possible… but in order for that to happen, we have to realize, “what got you here won’t get you there.”

I believe a business is much like a sports team. On every team, there is an Owner, Athletes… and a Coach. The Coach’s role is to lead, inspire, empower, educate and provide knowledge, systems, accountability… and of course… coach. The players execute the coach’s instructions.

There isn’t a single professional sports team that I know of that plays the game without a coach. The Calgary Flames, the Stampeders, the Okotoks Oilers… they all have a coach. Some have a team of coaches.

If your going to compete in sports, you’re going to have a coach, period.

Now… imagine… just imagine… imagine the results you would achieve if your business and your team worked with a business coach?

What do you believe?
